If you can get cell phone service at your house check with Verison. THere are a couple of plans and while it is a little more expensive than dial up it is SO worth! Sometimes it is a bit slow, but even on a slow day it is faster than dial up. good luck.Judy Dnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2214011696810847798.post-45530693557312946252012-01-05T08:31:04.369-05:002012-01-05T08:31:04.369-05:00I have had an ipad 2 with 3G and love it. I can watch TV or a movie, read a book, play a game of solitaire, check my email or facebook. It does everything and there is plenty of room for expansion. Next time we are both at Sue's shop I'd be happy to let you play with mine! I've wanted a kindle forever -- just hasn't made it above the other items on the "wanted" list.

Thanks Sharon -- for the giveaway ! Cindy deserves the credit for my guessing the answer though.

Good luck on the reading device decisions...

Cheers !
KarenKarens Quilts, Crows and Cardinalshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04839869002904564355noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2214011696810847798.post-17281458476203177752012-01-04T13:29:12.591-05:002012-01-04T13:29:12.591-05:00We have a Kindle Fire that we got for Christmas......We have a Kindle Fire that we got for Christmas....and we love it....easy, easy, easy to use..we have wi fi at home, so the downloading is easy. Mike is reading magazines on it..not sure how I feel about that. If you're interested, I may have a deal for you...bought one for an ungrateful daughter in law and haven't yet returned it (actually not sure what I was going to do with it)...if you're interested, we could strike a bargain.Emilynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2214011696810847798.post-13936275362610962592012-01-04T12:20:33.461-05:002012-01-04T12:20:33.461-05:00I have a Kindle 3g, with wi-fi, which I use for re...I have a Kindle 3g, with wi-fi, which I use for reading books. I am looking into getting the hardware for wi-fi and hopefully that will solve the problem. Originally, I was foaming at the mouth over the new Kindle Fire, but the security issues really scared me off. There isn't any password protection to prevent someone from ordering thousands of dollars worth of materials on your account if the reader gets stolen, ACK! In honesty, I would
probably get an Ipad which funtions still as a semi-laptop, an ereader, movie player, music player, etc. You also get a larger screen size so that you can actually have something to see without a microscope, LOL.

Of course, these days Android enabled phones do much of the same thing...

Good luck and hugs from the cold Mitten!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2214011696810847798.post-78613392931348285632012-01-04T08:51:00.644-05:002012-01-04T08:51:00.644-05:00I have had a Kindle 2nd generation since 2009 and ...I have had a Kindle 2nd generation since 2009 and LOVE IT. I tried the Kindle Fire and sent it back because I do not have Wi Fi at home and it aggravated me. I cannot comment on a tablet but I am now looking at the Kindle Touch with 3G. The thing I liked about my first Kindle was that I could connect ANYWHERE and buy a book in under 60 seconds. I think the 3G will do that same thing, but need to do more research. I will be interested in add'l comments.

Terri HAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
